When I became a dental hygienist, I learned a LOT about oral health – including a bunch of facts that absolutely shocked me…
For example, did you know that the alcohol in mouthwash doesn’t really kill germs? In fact, it can actually lead to creating more germs and cause bad breath. Crest even admits it themselves hidden on their website! (1)
Or how about this: The germs leftover on your toothbrush can infect your mouth when brushing and eventually make their way into your body which can lead to serious problems – causing issues to your digestive system, immune system problems like diarrhea, and even increase your risk for heart disease, diabetes and more. (2)
Okay, I’m almost done. But fair warning, I’ve saved the nastiest one for last… get this:
Your toothbrush is the 3rd most contaminated object in your entire home!
Yup. Yuck. Only your dish sponge and kitchen sink contain more germs (3)… and they likely come from food sources like mold and yeast.
The bacteria and viruses on your toothbrush? They come from the toilet. Or the sink… or from other toothbrushes. Eww!
Even worse, every time you flush the toilet, poop particles will fly into the air and can land right on your toothbrush.
But it doesn’t end there – the germs crawling around on the end of your toothbrush can lead to serious issues if left unaddressed. It’s not just gross – it’s also dangerous.
So yeah… if you’ve been getting sick lately and not sure why, it could be thanks to the poop particles you’re swallowing every time you brush your teeth. (7)
Now look… I knew I’d learn some nasty things when I became a dental hygienist. But I didn’t expect this. So naturally, my first question was:
“Is there ANYTHING I can do to get rid of these nasty germs living on my bristles?!”
Up until recently, the answer was no.
The best option was to seal your toothbrush when you’re not using it – replacing it every few months. But that’s expensive, time-consuming, and still doesn’t keep you protected.
At least, that USED to be the only option…
But as it turns out, the technology to deeply sterilize toothbrushes has MASSIVELY improved in recent years… and there’s now a way to keep your toothbrush germ-free automatically.
It comes in the form of a little device called “Bril” – and it’s hands-down the easiest and most effective way to clean your toothbrush from germs I’ve ever seen. Let me explain…
What is Bril?
Bril (short for “Brilliant”) is a portable toothbrush case that automatically sterilizes your toothbrush after every use.
It contains an all-natural UltraViolet (UV) light that kills 99.9% of germs on contact – including those harmful bacteria and viruses I mentioned earlier.
The concept is actually pretty simple: Instead of trying to kill bacteria after it’s inside your mouth, Bril helps you kill harmful germs and bacteria at the source (your toothbrush) – before they ever reach your mouth.
It’s the most effective technique I’ve found to protect yourself and your family from one of the most common sources of germs… your toothbrush. Soon I expect everyone will be using them!
How do you use Bril?
This is the best part about Bril – you don’t need to do anything differently to enjoy a germ-free toothbrush.
To use Bril, simply place your toothbrush inside and close the lid.
Bril will then automatically begin sterilizing your toothbrush with its germ-killing UV light.
That’s really all there is to it – there are no funky liquids to soak your brush in, no batteries to replace, and no complicated technology.
Even better, the battery lasts for a whopping 30 days on a single charge so you rarely have to charge it. And since Bril acts as a protective case** *and* **hangable toothbrush holder**, it’s useful both at home and while traveling.
Why does Bril sterilize your toothbrush so well? (And is it safe to use?)
The incredible power of Bril lies behind the germ-killing strength of Bril’s built-in ultraviolet (UV) light.
This UV light is also produced by the sun. However, it’s not just any type of UV light. Bril uses a special frequency of UV light called UV-C, which is even more effective at killing germs than other types of UV light.
UV-C light is proven to kill 99.9% of germs on the molecular level by destroying the DNA of germs – including viruses, mold, fungi, and bacteria. (4) This stops germs in their tracks and prevents them from spreading in your mouth (and then the rest of your body).
A new CDC study even confirms that this UV-C light kills the same germs that cause diarrhea, pneumonia, meningitis, and urinary tract infections. (5)
Even the FDA recognizes UV light as an effective method for sterilizing medical equipment. (6)
With so much evidence that UV-C light works, it’s clear why it is also used by professionals to sanitize hospitals, schools, and even the International Space Station!
Bril’s UV light is ingeniously enclosed inside the case making it completely safe while ensuring the light hits every bristle on your brush for a deep 360º clean. It really is “Bril-liant”!
If you want to keep your mouth and body healthy, don’t ignore your toothbrush – give Bril a try!
I’m so happy I found Bril – not only does it give me peace of mind knowing my mouth is better protected from germs, but it’s also super convenient.
Just think about it… the second you put your toothbrush back in the holder, it begins disinfecting the toothbrush automatically – keeping it germ-free until the next time you use it. (Sounds kinda futuristic, doesn’t it?)
The way I see it, you need a place to keep your toothbrush anyway. Why not keep it in something that also sterilizes it safely?
So, yeah… if you ask this formerly-grossed-out dental hygienist, Bril is an incredible breakthrough in home dental care. I won’t be surprised when everyone’s using them!
Hey everyone, thanks for all your comments! Many of you asked about where to find Bril at the best price. Well, how about getting your Bril for FREE?!
Yup – right now the creators of Bril are offering you several deals on their website… including Buy 2, Get 1 Free deal. Last I checked this deal was still working!
Another quick update – it looks like they added another discount, like the Buy 3, Get 2 Free Deal available here. This could be smart to check out… especially since it makes such a great gift for friends and family members. I’m not sure how long these new deals will last though, so don’t miss it…
Okay, that’s all for me today – thanks for reading! Whether or not you’ve decided to try Bril, I hope you’ve learned a thing or two about proper toothbrush hygiene today 🙂
